Talking to reporters after a meeting with Ms. Haley at the White House on Tuesday morning, Mr. Trump said she had done an "incredible job". "We'll be speaking all the time, but we'll miss you nevertheless and you have done a fantastic job and I want to thank you very much".
"Big announcement with my friend Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Oval Office at 10:30 am", the president tweeted earlier. "But I will tell you that there is no hate in this country". 'You can have your pick, ' he said. He held a press conference inside the Oval Office and spoke about her in glowing terms, declaring she was "special to me", and even raised the possibility she may rejoin the Administration later "in a different capacity". Haley, the former governor of SC, has been a fierce advocate for Trump's policies at the U.N. She said Tuesday that in the last two years, the US had become respected on the world stage, if not necessarily liked.

The Trump administration has had a high level of turnover in its first couple of years - something that did not go unnoticed with the news of Haley's impending departure. "I've only done it once, unlike a lot of people who've been out there, and came pretty close", Kerry said, referencing his 286-251 electoral vote loss to President George W. Bush. But she and the White House chose to announce this just four weeks before the 2018 election?
In recent months, her star had faded a bit, with Tillerson replaced by the brash Mike Pompeo and John Bolton taking over as national security advisor.
Haley has worked as US Ambassador to the United Nations since Trump's inauguration since January 2017, and is one of the longest-serving members of his administration.
