EA ‘closely monitoring’ rape claim against Federation Internationale de Football Association 19's Cristiano Ronaldo

This doesn't mean EA believe the former Real Madrid star is guilty, but it does suggest the company is trying to distance itself from the situation - even if a spokesperson explained that they regularly update images for marketing purposes.

Ronaldo has also been left out of the Portugal national team after discussions with manager Fernando Santos and the head of the FA.

Ronaldo, who is facing a rape allegation in the United States, could play when Juventus faces Udinese in the Italian league, according to coach Massimiliano Allegri.

You may have heard the Federation Internationale de Football Association 19 cover star Cristiano Ronaldo - arguably one of the world's most famous sports personalities - has recently been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Las Vegas in 2009.

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have had his image removed from the EA Sports website.

Nike, however, which reportedly has a $1bn (R14 billion) deal with Ronaldo, said in a statement to the Press Association that it is "deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations" and "will continue to closely monitor the situation".

The Portuguese striker "has shown in recent months his great professionalism and dedication, which is appreciated by everyone at Juventus", the team said on Twitter, breaking their silence over the claims made by an American model. An article by German weekly Der Spiegel outlines the alleged events in full.

Mayorga has filed a lawsuit against the football player aiming to void a non-disclosure agreement from the time, as her lawyers believe she was coerced into signing it in exchange for $375,000.

Mayorga's attorney Leslie Stovall told reporters his client had suffered years of trauma as a result of the alleged attack and found the courage to speak out thanks to the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and assault at the hands of powerful men.

He said a psychiatrist had diagnosed Ms Mayorga with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Las Vegas Police has reopened its investigation.

"At the time the report was taken, the victim did not provide detectives with the location of the incident or suspect description", a statement said.
