Amazon's Alexa service suffers outages across the UK and Europe

Some users of Amazon's Alexa voice-activated assistant have reported problems using the service in the UK. Once enabled, Echo owners can get WRAL News by asking, "Alexa, what's my flash briefing?" or "Alexa, what's new?"

Los Angeles-based startup Aiva Health got a shot in the arm from the Google Assistant Investment Program to support development of its artificial intelligence-powered voice assistant. This time around Amazon has opted for something less austere, aping the 2nd-gen Echo with a a fabric cover and coming in a choice of three colours: Charcoal (dark grey / black), Heather Grey (below), and Sandstone (white).

Are you affected by the outage? The new Echo Dot and Echo Plus will start shipping in October while the Echo Sub will be available later this year. The Echo Show, unlike its Echo and Echo Dot siblings, features a display bumped to a 10-inch size in its latest iteration. It connects wirelessly to existing Echo devices and basically adds a big thump to your audio setup, making it suitable for a basic home theater system.

It seems that Amazon's infamous super bowl ad has become somewhat of a reality for those in the United Kingdom and Europe, as the company's Alexa smart assistant went down today.

Amazon's Echo smart speakers have faced problems with connectivity in Britain and some other European countries but are now up and running, according to outage tracker Downdetector.

Aiva provides provide patients and seniors with smart speakers including Google Home and Amazon Echo to stay in closer contact with their care providers, while also offering them entertainment and education.

We checked but there is no official comment from Amazon regarding this issue. A third user said: "Spoken with Amazon".
