Trump's Boasts Draw Laughter at United Nations General Assembly

"They weren't laughing at me". 'When I first came here, even though I lived in NY, it was a little bit of a foreign territory to me, the United Nations.

The US president is in the Security Council chair on Wednesday because America now holds the rotating presidency.

Trump showed off his own lack of interest in the institution of the UN.

In his speech, the president continued his rhetorical broadside against the Islamic Republic for a second day, after dressing down Tehran the day before in a speech to the General Assembly.

Fallon joked that halfway through Trump's speech, "every foreign leader was begging to be deported". The two sides can listen to each other right here in this Assembly. They said it will "assist and reassure economic operators pursuing legitimate business with Iran", after Mr. Trump pulled out of the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and re-imposed sanctions.

Regardless of Rouhani's not so generous offer of dialogue, what can practically come up in the next chapter of relations between Tehran and Washington, depend to a great extent on what will happen at the UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday September 26 which is to be chaired by Trump.

Speaking in triumphal terms, Trump approached the address as an annual report to the world on his country's progress since his inauguration.

"The U.S. will not tell you how to live and work or worship", Trump said as he unapologetically promoted his "America First" agenda. "We reject the ideology of globalism, and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism". Appearing briefly flustered, Trump smiled and joked that it was not the reaction he expected "but that's all right".

The Iran deal, which China, the UK, France, and Germany, remain party to, sought to ease sanctions on Iran in exchange for a solid commitment form it to not seek out nuclear weapons. But upon realising that Trump could find himself isolated on the subject, United States officials made a decision to broaden the agenda to cover the importance of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. "For dialogue to take place, there is no need for a photo opportunity".

"There's not going to be a meeting".

Trump went on to bash Iran in the speech, and Iran's president later made a speech saying Trump had a "Nazi disposition".

Iranian President Hassan Rohani shot back in a speech hours later, denouncing what he called Washington's policy of disregarding worldwide agreements and pursuing "might makes right" around the world. We'll start talking about that.

Bolivia has always been a vocal critic of USA foreign policy, and Morales did not hold back on Wednesday.

Macron, citing the example of Iran, said that this unilateralism push would lead directly to conflicts.

The verbal slams were predictable: There is widespread unease at the United Nations with Trump's foreign policy outlook, and in particular his aggressive stance on Iran. "It is true that we are moving in the direction of a multipolar world".

A little further into his speech, German diplomats appeared bemused by Trump's latest swipe at their country as he reiterated his criticism of Germany's planned undersea gas pipeline from Russian Federation.

Rouhani is nearly certain not to attend the Security Council meeting that will test Trump's ability to maintain diplomatic decorum and interact with representatives of rival nations.

U.S. President Donald Trump used a session on nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction at the U.N. Security Council to defend his May 8 decision to abandon the nuclear pact under which Tehran limited its nuclear program in return for the easing of U.S., European and global economic sanctions. We are winning at every level.

"Regrettably we found that China has been attempting to interfere in our upcoming 2018 election coming up in November against my administration", he charged. This effectively cut out the entire moment, from world leaders snickering at Trump to the entire assembly bursting out in laughter. "In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than nearly any administration in the history of our country", Trump said.

The audience then laughed louder and applauded.
