Dark Phoenix Shows Off Its Cosmic Roots With Beautiful New Poster

Ahead of the trailer premiere for Dark Phoenix later tonight, 2oth Century Fox has officially released the first poster and synopsis for the latest installment of the X-Men franchise. Now, Fox is set to take a second shot at adapting the Dark Phoenix saga from the comics onto the big screen.

Writer/director Kinberg then got to work penning some new material to fix things that Fox decided didn't work in its test screenings, and reshoots are still now underway on the 90s-set film, which reunites Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto on a mission to save Jean Grey (played here again by Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner) from a malevolent force. The core team, sans Jean, can also be seen wearing costumes inspired by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's New X-Men run.

"In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey".

You can watch the new trailer in the video above. "Fanboys and girls did not love the movie [X-Men: The Last Stand]". It stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Jessica Chastain, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Sophie Turner, Evan Peters and Lamar Johnson. When I wrote X-Men: "Days of Future Past years later - it was a time travel story - I thought, 'Well, here's an opportunity to rewrite this mistake - bring Jean Grey back to life.' I got to go back and essentially erase a $200 million movie".

Dark Phoenix hits theaters February 14, 2019.
