Mo Salah wins FIFA Puskás Award

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah picked up The Best Puskas award for his stunning goal against Everton in the 2017/2018 Premier League season.

"Salah had a sensational year.but to win the best goal of the year award?" another irate footy fan questioned.

Meanwhile, others would point to Cristiano Ronaldo, who was absent from the ceremony, and his stunning overhead kick for Real Madrid against Juventus in Europe's elite competition as the one and only victor.

Nominees for the award included World Cup goals scored by Russia's Denis Cheryshev, France's Benjamin Pavard and Portugal's Ricardo Quaresma.

And the Liverpool ace's latest personal accolade enraged several football fans on Twitter, who took aim at FIFA.

Another major issue with the selection came with the fact that Thibaut Courtois, who was voted the world's best goalkeeper earlier in the evening, was omitted from the XI at the expense of David de Gea.

There are some football fans that believe Gareth Bale's sublime bicycle kick against Liverpool in the Champions League final should have been crowned the undisputed victor.

Here is the Salah strike that won the top prize.

Deschamps' win was no surprise, given the focus on Russian Federation 2018, and he used his acceptance speech to warmly thanks his backroom staff and players.

"Thank you, everyone", the 26-year-old said.

"We all know that being a coach, alone we can't do anything".

'I am looking forward to winning another award tonight.

But the Egyptian was handed the prize for the best goal on Monday night.
