Given how it's practically mandatory that all stars of feel good viral clips appear on Ellen, Halsey performed her famous "Work It" cover to the delight of host Ellen DeGeneres and fellow guest Kristen Bell.
Missy Elliott made a huge surprise appearance on Ellen to join a fan, Mary Halsey, who went viral a month ago for slaying Work It at a karaoke competition. On The Ellen Show this week, Ellen DeGeneres brought together Halsey and the iconic rapper for a surprise meeting. "The reaction that I got was so positive that it became my go-to song". "Everybody wants to hear it". Elliott was such a fan of her performance that she shared it on Twitter and solidified her status as the artist's "funky white sister". Halsey goes on to share that she's been singing Elliot's song for 15 years (explains the near-perfect rendition) and that she originally picked it back in 2003 for a contest and spent a lot of time studying the lyrics. During the interview, she said of one day meeting Elliott, "I see it in my future".
Elliott said that she was immediately impressed with Halsey.
'First I want to thank Ellen for just being wonderful she will always be blessed because of her HUGE Heart!,' she captioned a video of her and Halsey.
Missy later posted a video (which Funky White Sister Halsey initially thought was a picture, just like every auntie) of the two new BFFs backstage.
"The song had come out in 2002 and it was really popular", she said.
