Users get a single rather than dual camera, but Apple promises the iPhone XR provides its most advanced single-camera experience to date. The iPhone XR, the handset most people will want to buy this year, will be about a month late to the party.
Alongside the trio of new iPhone designs revealed by Apple last night, the firm updated its smartwatch. The worst part? These new features won't officially launch until spring.
For this post, I'll leave out the iPhone XS Max. The UI has been optimised for the larger 40- and 44mm OLED displays. This system has a new wide-angle camera with larger pictures and a telephoto lens with a wider aperture, making it so both should do a bit better in low-light than their predecessor. Apple says it has "totally re-engineered", this method of interacting with haptic feedback now providing a click-like feel as you scroll. Google does something similar with the Pixel.
Battery life is claimed to last up to an hour and half longer per day than the iPhone 8 Plus.

You can pre-order the iPhone Xr beginning October 19 and it will ship on October 26. Apple uses the "S" suffix when it upgrades components but leaves the exterior of a phone largely the same. That means if you haven't already embraced wireless headphones, now's the time.
This even-bigger iPhone, which will be available on September 21 - with orders open the week before - represents Apple's attempt to feed consumers' appetite for increasingly larger screens as they rely on smartphones to watch and record video, as well as take photos wherever they are.
If you're in the market for an Apple Watch, and you're looking at the Apple website's comparison page trying to make up your mind, it's hard to argue with hard numbers: The Apple Watch Series 3 is $120 less expensive than the equivalent Series 4, and it's almost identical. The larger display size allows the device to show more information.
"This is the first ECG product offered over the counter directly to consumers", Williams said.
We'll let you know how it feels when we review the phone. Its fall-detecting feature prompts the watch to make emergency calls if it detects that the wearer has had a fall. The device will also screen your heart rhythm and look for irregularities.
Sam's Club is throwing in a $100 gift card to members who purchase and activate an iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max from September 21st through September 23rd with either AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon.
Apple on Wednesday unveiled updated versions of its priciest iPhones along with a new smartwatch that allows users to take their own electrocardiograms, as the U.S. tech giant looks to boost its momentum in a sputtering market.
