Rival forecaster LMC Automotive agrees, predicting a steady decline in Tesla's share of an exploding electric-car market over the next decade, from today's 12.3 percent to 2.8 percent, even as its absolute sales continue to rise. Thankfully, it starts from a pretty solid place - the EQC looks similar to the more conventional GLC SUV within the Mercedes-Benz range, although it is touted as more than merely an electric GLC. We have details and gallery of the new SUV, the first of offering in the automaker's EQ brand.
Mercedes-Benz has published its latest - and apparently final - videotizer crossover EQC. "We don't comment on the profitability of individual cars or segments, but needless to say, we're going to have to make the growth into EVs part of our profitable growth strategy", he said, noting that cost structures are higher than previously experienced with internal combustion-engined cars.
Between the axles is an 80kWh lithium-ion battery pack that's good for "up to 200 miles" (321km).
The auto gets 407 PS of power and 765 Nm of torque coming from two electric motors, one on each axle, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
Forthcoming models such as the Mercedes-Benz EQC will underpin most automakers' electric vehicle product lines.
When it came to the EQC launch, Mercedes picked the city of Stockholm for its startup scene and green credentials, then began firing off teasers on Instagram as well as Twitter. We're not saying that this EV look bad; it just looks different and we find the front end of the vehicle a bit Japanese-looking. The black panel is bordered at the top with daytime running lamps. It also comes with a sloping roofline, prominent fender flares, and two-tone wheels. The most distinctive feature in the cabin is probably the massive digital instrument cluster, which is nearly the size of two iPads. Christened the EQC, it goes on sale here in the U.S. in 2020. The exterior and the interior design looks young, which could attract a new set of younger clients.
Looking like you'd expect a production take on the EQ SUV Concept to look, the concept's design is toned down and, if you didn't know better - or haven't looked really closely - the EQC could just be another Mercedes SUV.
