The two met face-to-face for the first time before the two teams faced off in their preseason game on Thursday night and according to Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer, the meeting didn't go so well.
In an unprompted manner last weekend, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin unleashed on his former team, the Carolina Panthers and his former quarterback, Cam Newton. That may not be the case anymore, as Newton didn't seem able to say what he wanted when approaching Benjamin in-person.
Benjamin played with Newton for three and a half seasons in Carolina, though one of those was spent on the sidelines due to an ACL tear. "I should've never went to Carolina".
The comments that got the attention of Newton and plenty of other people - including Buffalo Coach Sean McDermott - featured this passage: "If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying? I wasn't even trying to listen".
"I ain't gonna go back and forth with him, I'm just gonna work", Newton said.
First the video. Then the responses, which weren't very kind to the Buffalo star, in general, although Benjamin scored a first quarter touchdown and jumped into the stands to celebrate.
