Xiaomi has finally introduced its second Android One smartphone, the Mi A2, in India. The base model with 4GB of RAM retails for Rs 14,999 while the premium model with 6GB RAM is priced at Rs 16,999. The device will be exclusively available via Amazon India; starting August 9 at 12PM.
The Mi A2 device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with 4 GB and 6 GB variants. It is available with an internal storage of 64GB. It has been four years and the company has taken on the competition to local as well as other Chinese smartphone makers while taking the fight to industry giants such as Samsung and Lenovo-owned Motorola. Though there is a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, the device can also be unlocked using the face unlock feature.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with a 3,010mAh battery, which seems rather small, but we expect it to perform as good as the Mi A1, if not better.
In the optics department, the Mi A2 features a 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor having 1.25 micron pixel size and a secondary 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor for portrait pictures.
Despite running stock Android, Xiaomi has bundled conveniences like Mi Drop, File Manager, and a dedicated feedback button on the Mi A2. On the other hand, the phone carries a 20MP front camera with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).
The Xiaomi Mi A2 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.
In terms of connectivity, the Mi A2 has the USB Type-C port, Bluetooth v5.0, Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, GPS, and dual-SIM connectivity with 4G LTE and VoLTE.
