Premier League's Richard Scudamore hope Manchester City face challenge

Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester City's Premier League rivals that his side will only get better than they were last season.

West Ham United with Chilean Manuel Pellegrini and Everton with Portugal's Marco Silva have new managers and have spent significant money on new faces as they look to make sure last season's struggles become top-half progress.

The 24-year-old England worldwide, who helped City win the Premier League title last term after joining from Everton in 2016, is nominally a centre-back.

According to Sky Sports News, discussions between Milan and Chelsea are at an advanced stage, with the Italians eager for a loan move with an option to buy at the end of the season. "We've discussed that many times in Europe. What we are working on is the depth of the squad because you need it".

"Arsenal I think are going to be more consistent as a team", Guardiola added.

No side since United nine years ago have retained the title with Chelsea twice and Leicester failing to even make the top four in past three seasons.

But Stones briefly moved up the field when Vincent Kompany came on as a substitute late in the 2-0 Community Shield win over Chelsea on Sunday.

As time wound down on Wednesday, Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao for £72.1million, in a world-record transfer for a goalkeeper.

Fans at Old Trafford will finally have the chance to see what their new midfield man has to offer.

Bakayoko is being tipped to leave the club on loan after a poor first season in London.

Yet, based on the World Cup performances of Golden Boot victor Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen among others, there is still plenty for Mauricio Pochettino to look forward to.
