Johnny Manziel slaps the turf in frustration after throwing an interception.
Johnny Manziel took the field on Friday night for his CFL debut.
Manziel was the second Heisman Trophy quarterback to start for Montreal.
After completing a pass for a 5-yard loss on his first play, Manziel threw an interception on the second attempt - and made a tackle.
And hell, why not?
You can see all four of Manziel's interceptions below.
"This is a humbling experience", Manziel said.
His first interception came on Montreal's second offensive play, a ball thrown into coverage in the middle of the field. "I've had this experience in the past and there's two ways you go about this going forward". One you can let this get you down and sulk ... and harm you moving forward. The other way is to take this on the chin like a man and never let this taste creep back in your mouth again and never let it happen again. The whole thing smacked of a publicity stunt for a struggling team that has won just once this year, desperate to draw fans. Hopefully, things will get better for the former star quarterback. "Only up from here", Manziel said after the game.
Vegas got in on the act with the Manziel circus as well setting lines on his individual performance with over/unders on completions, touchdowns, passing yards, and rushing yards to name a few.
"The mistakes he made, he'll learn from", said Sherman, who plans to stick with Manziel as his starter. The defense was porous and the special teams even gave up points, when a punt was blocked and returned for a touchdown.
Being intercepted four times in his first CFL start is not the way to do that.
The hype that has followed Johnny Football since his Texas A&M days just seems to go hand in hand with some very poor decisions. It sucks. Nevertheless, I don't think this defines me coming up here as a CFL player. "He's going out there to do a good job moving the football for us and I believe he'll do that". The first was on that Sutton tip, but the second was on a third-down gamble and Manziel clearly got greedy on that one.
