President Donald Trump's former campaign aide Sam Nunberg said he does "sympathize" with Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen, but said his decision to release a secretly recorded tape of a conversation with Trump as going "too far".
Cohen's lawyer, Lanny Davis, declined to comment on Giuliani's assertions.
Scaramucci said that during the campaign, there was a "major flurry of activity", and in June 2016, when the meeting occurred, there was work going on, including with Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort, to make sure the president's electoral success was going to be matched at the Republican National Convention.
President Donald Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani said Sunday that he wants the public to hear more of Michael Cohen's recordings as he continued to claim that they vindicated Trump.
Trump and his attorneys have said that the recordings had been cut down to make it seem as if the president acted improperly. Along with the testimony, the committee released emails from the president's son that showed him saying things such as "If it's what you say I love it" in response to an email offering dirt on his father's opponent, Hillary Clinton. "If they rely on him ... it would destroy whatever case they have". A statement from Donald Trump Jr. one day earlier made no mention of Clinton.
Following the report on the Trump Tower meeting, Giuliani told CNN's Chris Cuomo on Thursday that Cohen has "been lying for years ... he's lied all his life", and said he doesn't "see how he has any credibility".
Cohen wasn't at the Trump Tower meeting and Cohen has not offered evidence to support the claim that Trump knew about the meeting.
Giuliani was even more explicit in his praise of Cohen in May, saying that Cohen is "an honest, honorable lawyer" when ABC's George Stephanopoulos asked if he was concerned that Cohen, who is under criminal investigation by the USA attorney's office in Manhattan, would cooperate with prosecutors.
Cohen and Trump's relationship has broken down in recent months, after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Cohen's property in April and seized thousands of documents and records. He's under investigation by the FBI and the USA attorney's office in NY.
Trump also on Friday dismissed as "ridiculous" a report that Muller's team is looking at Trump's tweets as they investigate possible collusion and obstruction of justice.
The Fox host spoke with Sandra Smith on America's Newsroom Friday and shared his thoughts on Cohen's claim that the president approved Donald Trump Jr.
"(T) he rigged Witch Hunt continues!" he complained, adding: "How stupid and unfair to our Country".
