Sarri arrives at Stamford Bridge after three impressive years at Italian club Napoli, but will take over at a club facing an uncertain future at boardroom level following Roman Abramovich's United Kingdom visa issues.
With little over three weeks left in the transfer window and four until the first Premier League match of the 2018-19, Sarri can not count on time as an ally.
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Italian worldwide Jorginho from Napoli for a fee that is believed to be close to £57 million.
"We are delighted Jorginho has chosen to join Chelsea", club director Marina Granovskaia said in the statement.
Sarrisuccessfully led Napoli to two second-place finishes during his three years in charge and his idiosyncratic attacking style of football has appeared to have lured the London Club.

"I am absolutely ecstatic to be here at Chelsea", Jorginho said on Chelsea's official website. "It is an exciting new period in my career".
Manchester-based news outlets were fast to publish stories about the deal, claiming that Jorginho was forced into signing for Chelsea.
Chelsea are already a week into their pre-season training, but the 59-year-old is eager to get started in his new post.
Chelsea's midfield does boast of a formidable look now with Kante and Jorginho certain starters.
According to several northern reporters, in what has all the signs of a briefing from the club, City had agreed a €50million deal with Napoli, and believe Jorginho had his heart set on a move to the Etihad.
