TMZ Sports reported Knight could've been sentenced for more than 50 years if he had been found guilty of all charges.
According to court records in Maricopa County, Arizona, prosecutors charged Knight with two counts apiece for sexual conduct with a minor, sexual abuse and molestation of a child. "I just ask God for forgiveness for all the wrong I've done".
He begins by saying "This is probably my last message on Earth".
Knight also said he believed the video would be his "last message on earth". "I lied, I cheated and I stole", he said. He detailed his struggle with mental illness, saying, "I isolated myself from my family members". If this happens, you probably have a mental illness.
Knight, 39, played for UCLA from 1998-2002, averaging more than 14 points per game his senior season before entering into the 2002 NBA Draft where he was undrafted. Unfortunately, Knight couldn't get the help he needed in time, and UCLA fans have to say goodbye to another athlete far too early.
The Bruins basketball program tweeted its condolences on Tuesday: "Our hearts are heavy". "We ask that the Bruin family keep Billy's loved ones in their thoughts during this hard time".
He wasn't picked in the 2002 National Basketball Association draft but played professionally in France and Japan. Following his playing career, he would become a basketball operations assistant for the G-League's Northern Arizona Suns, an affiliate of the Phoenix Suns, from 2016-2017.
