Raheem Sterling criticism is "disgusting", says Gary Neville

Raheem Sterling criticism is

Midfielder Eric Dier has said that he is "so, so happy" for the recognition that England and Tottenham Hotspur teammate Kieran Trippier has received during the World Cup.

To do so, and seal their first World Cup final in 52 years, England will need to see off a Croatia side who thrashed Argentina in the group stage and edged Denmark and Russian Federation on penalties to reach the last four.

Not many teams are, however, as gifted as the current French set-up, but there is no denying that all four teams which made it to the semi-finals in Russian Federation displayed a certain level of tactical aptitude ingrained in their game.

Sterling has found his performances being placed under the microscope arguably more than any other England player by certain publications. Yet, anybody who observed England's quarter-final win over Sweden without any bias would tell you how influential Sterling was to England's gameplay.

He did miss a glorious chance to put England 2-0 up against Sweden, but his all round performance was widely-praised and Gareth Southgate has stuck by his man.

Twice in the closing minutes of the first half, his pace took him behind the Swedish defence with just the goalkeeper to beat and twice he let Sweden off the hook, seeming to lack the clinical finish that might be expected from Harry Kane.

"He offers so much to the team".

"I think Raheem Sterling is an important player because he is fast and risky alongside Harry Kane", Dalic said in a press conference Sunday.

"And the most magnificent thing is he is 23 years old, so he is still focused, keeping the desire to get better, as a player".

He would not give any details of how serious those injuries are, saying only that reaching the last four was "a new motivation" for his squad, but did say he might have to make changes to his line-up as now was not the time to take any risks with players who are not 100 per cent.

The Manchester City winger has come under fire by pundits and supporters, even before the World Cup started, when his choice of tattoos were questioned by British tabloids. "His work ethic is fantastic as well." he said.

And this could benefit England if Sterling makes the most of the space presented to him. Every player deserves to be applauded.
