The 25-year-old rapper retaliated as her manager Klenord Raphael aka Shaft, filed a $10 million lawsuit against her, alleging a breach of contract, unjust enrichment, declaratory judgment and defamation.
Cardi B has chose to launch a counter-suit against Klenord Raphael on the basis that he exploited her and tried to maintain control over her career and personal life.
Cardi's suit claims that when the artist "questioned whether it was proper for her to receive only 50 percent", Shaft "deceitfully told her that this was an absolutely standard percentage for a recording artist to receive".
'Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image, ' the agent's rep said in a statement in the wake of the suit.
The suit also claims he had her sign an exclusive personal management agreement with a company called "WorldStar Marketing Group", and gave her "the false impression that WorldStar had some connection or affiliation with the popular entertainment and music website, worldstarhiphop.com", but the company was simply an alter ego for him.
TMZ reports that the counter-suit accuses Raphael of trying to dictate who she "should and should not see romantically".
