- Mayo Clinic Children's Center again has been ranked as the top-performing children's hospital in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota on U.S. News & World Report's 2018-2019 Best Children's Hospitals rankings. Last year, Children's National just cracked the top 10, as the 10th-best pediatric care center in the U.S. The year before, it didn't make the cut. "As we continue growing to advance pediatric medicine and meet the needs of future generations of children in Georgia and beyond, we are honored to be named as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the nation". Boston Children's Hospital topped the overall list.
U.S. News & World Report has published its 12th annual ranking of children's hospitals.
The publication named Lurie 10th in the nation, down from its ranking of seventh a year ago.
The 10 pediatric specialties are cancer, cardiology/heart surgery, diabetes & endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology. This program has been in use at NewYork-Presbyterian Komansky Children's Hospital since November 2017 and was launched in May at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. The rankings methodology factored in patient outcomes, clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center was ranked first in cancer and gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery.
"We are proud of the specialized expertise of our pediatric care teams and their dedication to the children of Iowa and beyond", says Amy O'Deen, interim executive director, UI Stead Family Children's Hospital. Together, they offer the best available care in every area of pediatrics - including the most complex neonatal and critical care, and all areas of pediatric surgery - in a family-friendly and technologically advanced setting.
