England and New Zealand women re-write record books

England opener, Tammy Beaumont smashed 116 runs off 52 balls to power her team to the highest T20I score of 250 runs. Following the trend, England Women's team too end up achieving a similar feat by scoring 250-3 against South Africa Women in the Tri-Nation T20I series at Taunton.

The campaign is aimed at urging more people to watch, attend and play women's sport - watch former England internationals Isa Guha, Ebony Rainford-Brent and Mark Butcher discuss it below.

The tri-series continues at the same venue on Saturday, with England facing South Africa at 13:00 BST and New Zealand at 17:40. An incredible 96 of her 116 came in boundaries, and nearly all on the leg-side as she punished the Proteas for bowling too straight too often. Their drubbing against England came just hours after they were thrashed by New Zealand Women in the same The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.

Captain Dane van Niekerk led from the front with a gutsy 72 from 51 balls, but it was not enough to prevent a second defeat of the day for South Africa.

In stark contrast to the carnage that had gone before, the first over of South Africa's innings was a maiden as Anya Shrubsole kept it tight early on.

Danni Wyatt, before Beaumont England's only T20 centurion, was reduced, for once, to the role of supporting partner, contributing just 56 of England's first-wicket stand of 147.

"I'm a little bit lost for words", said Bates, after clubbing 16 fours and three sixes in one of her "cleanest" batting performances. Both the wickets were scalped by spinner Stacy Lackey after conceding 59 runs from her spell of 4 overs - joint most runs leaked in a Women's T20I along with Masabata Klaas in the same match. Laura Wolvaardt was dismissed for two in the second over by Brunt (2 for 18), followed by Lizelle Lee (19 off 14 balls) to Danielle Hazell (2 for 35) and Tazmin Brits who got run out by Sophie Ecclestone for a single.

"I was pretty lucky that the ball swung and that worked in my favour, but all the credit for today needs to go to the girls who batted".

"I just tried to bowl a heavy length, bowl it straight and hope that it swung".
