The debate over the Trump administration's immigration policy is still simmering, and the blowback continues to hit Trump - this time in the form of yet another Time magazine cover.
The young girl on the cover comes from a photo taken by Getty photographer John Moore at the southern border.
TIME's new cover: A reckoning after Trump's border separation policy: What kind of country are we? "In the balance between the integrity of the USA border with Mexico and a parent's love for a child, where will we come down?" TIME's editors said they chose the image because it was so powerful. "I had to stop and take deep breaths", Moore told TIME. It shows a little girl sobbing while her mother is taken away to be searched. Moore, who as a photojournalist has been covering the U.S. -Mexico border for a decade, said he did not see the pair separated but that policy at the time would indicate their separation.
Trump's June 20 executive order vowed to end the separation of families at the border, but details of family reunification and post-reunification plans are far from settled.
Many expressed concern about the girl's fate, given the Trump's administration's enforcement of its zero tolerance policy separating children from parents facing prosecution for illegal border-crossing.
