The 5.2-litre flat-plane V8 remains the most powerful naturally-aspirated engine Ford has ever produced, with 526hp and 429lb ft at its shrieking 8,250rpm redline.
The GT350's new 19-inch aluminum wheels come wrapped in bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, 295/35 in the front and 305/56 rear to be exact. The same six-piston front and four-piston rear caliper Brembo brakes carry over, and a revised spoiler with an optional Gurney flap are now available for 2019 and help improve aerodynamics.
The standard MagneRide suspension has been recalibrated with new springs and revised damping, making it even sharper. Also, unlike the non-Shelby models, the 2019 GT350 will not wear the new front end design, with the engineers sticking with the front end from the 2015-2017 model years.
"It's a rewarding vehicle to drive on track for amateurs and pros alike, while making the driver feel like a superhero". As usual the 2019 GT350 will act as the flawless balance between the regular Mustang and the track-bred GT350R, but Ford consulted with Billy Johnson, FIA World Endurance driver for Ford GT, to help the GT350 achieve better performance on the circuit. "It inspires confidence in corners and makes you feel like a superhero".
The Shelby GT350 is design to carve up road courses so for the 2019 model year, the engineers focused on improving the cornering capabilities of the high performance Ford pony auto.
Along with its looks, the GT350 is carrying over its unique 526 hp 5.2-liter V8, but is getting a few upgrades to improve its overall performance.
Inside, fresh styling cues include machined aluminium trim and newly designed door panel inserts in suede.
The updated 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 will be available "starting in early 2019" for the North American market, with pricing to be confirmed closer to launch. The auto also comes with additional standard equipment including a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a universal garage door opener and an 8-inch SYNC 3 infotainment system. What they can not opt for, though, is the same aesthetic or functional updates Ford made to the standard Mustang for this year.
Velocity Blue and Ford Performance Blue paint colours are both now available outside, while the suede-lined interior features an eight-inch Sync 3 touch screen and dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control as now standard.
