Infinity War is just the fourth film in industry history to reach this milestone, the third to do so in its initial run, and the second to do so from The Walt Disney Studios (joining Star Wars: The Force Awakens). The only other movies in the US$2 billion club are Avatar, Titanic and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Infinity War now stands as Marvel's highest-grossing film ever - although Black Panther still has it beat domestically with $699.4 million.
Avengers: Infinity War has officially crossed the $2 billion mark!
Much of Infinity War's total has come from worldwide box office receipts, particularly in China, where it's earned $369.7 million and become the country's third highest-grossing film ever.
It is also the most successful Hollywood film ever released in India. Indeed, Infinity War placed at 5 last weekend, having added $7.2 million to its total, even besting the debuting Hotel Artemis, which came in at a disappointing 8. Over its span of a decade, Marvel brought together nearly every superhero in its comics world onto the celluloid, to ultimately fight against the supervillain Thanos in the Infinity War. Well, Thanos finally launched his primary attack in Avengers: Infinity War and Iron Man is going to have to think creatively to save the universe. Marvel's third Avengers film was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel.
The untitled sequel to "Infinity War" is slated for release May 3, 2019. As of the writing of this story, Infinity War has grossed $2 billion worldwide.
