Tamil actress Sangeetha Balan arrested for running prostitution ring

She is popular for playing a kind-hearted mother-in-law in hit TV show Vani Rani, which has actor Radhika Sarathkumar playing a double role.

According to reports, police have arrested television actress Sangeetha, who is acting in the popular "Vani Rani" television serial, for being involved in prostitution in a private resort in Panayur in Chennai. As per the reports, the Chennai police raided the resort on East Coast Road in Chennai after they got a tip-off about the sex racket. After getting information about a prostitution racket in the resort, police conducted a raid. Another person named Suresh is also said to have been arrested along with Sangeetha. The actress has also featured in many television serials like Chellamey, Valli, Aval and Annakodiyum Aindhu Pengalum, among others. She has also acted in serials such as Karuppu Roja and Tamilsevanum Thaniyar Anjalum among others. Sangeetha and her alleged accomplice Sathish have been sent to jail after they appeared in front of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Egmore. In Vani Rani, Sangeetha essays the role of Sundari Kaaliappan.

This is not the first time that actresses have been arrested on charges of prostitution.
