Unless this is some kind of extremely elaborate ruse, it's safe to say that we'll be hearing some new music from the Gorillaz, come this summer.
Finally breaking up the endless parade of albums being released by three-dimensional bands, the world's premier two-dimensional band, Gorillaz, are set to drop their sixth studio album in late June. There's no band name mentioned anywhere, however. People were first directed to this teaser by posters at the recent All Points East festival in London.
The official announcement comes from Emma de Caunes, wife of Gorillaz' artist and co-creator Jamie Hewlett.
Gorillaz have an unpredictably predictable pattern of releasing albums.
At a concert in Santiago, Chile earlier this year, the project's musical mastermind, Damon Albarn, teased the crowd packed in the arena about the "rumors" of a new album in 2018 before introducing a new song, "Hollywood". In any case, we're going to be finding out sooner rather than later.
At this point, it's unknown if The Now Now is an album, a new single, or something else entirely.
