Maradona becomes Belarus football club chairman

The Argentina legend, 57, signed a three-year deal with the club and will take up his new role after the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation.

Buenos Aires: Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona has said that he accepted an offer to become chairman and sporting director of Belarusian club Dynamo Brest. At Dynamo Brest, he will deal with strategic development and follow the development of youth football.

Dinamo Brest said on its Twitter account that Maradona signed a three-year deal, and will take up the role after the World Cup in Russian Federation ends.

Czech specialist Radoslav Latal was the head coach of the football club this season.

They face BATE in the Belarusian Cup final on Sunday, where they will seek to defend the trophy they won a year ago.

He will assume his duties after the end of the world Cup, which will start soon in Russian Federation. However, the start of the national championship was not successful for FC Dynamo Brest and after the team suffered defeat from FC Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino, Radoslav Latal and the club's management made a decision to terminate cooperation.

Diego Maradona has found a new home. He led the Argentina national team from 1977 to 1994.
