President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Kayode Fayemi, Minister of Mines and Solid Mineral Development, for emerging the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the July 14 Ekiti State governorship election.
Opeyemi Bamidele, another aspirant also described Fayemi as a consummate politician with vast experience in administration, being a former governor and serving minister, exuding confidence that the minister would deliver and "bring the lost glory of the party back in the coming election". However, Ayodele Fayose, the outgoing governor, has promised him the worst political defeat of his career in July. I gave him 16 - 0, defeating him in all the local governments, including in his hometown. Though he could still remain in office till June, at least a month before the election, he needs to be on the ground in Ekiti earlier than that.
"I served as governor of the state for four years - whatever I'm doing is based on the record that somebody could be subjected to critical scrutiny". "The manner of his so-called victory also leaves much to be desired as it has turned many of their party leaders and followers against him", he added.
"APC is falling apart everywhere", he said, adding that the party, which was dead before in Ekiti, has now been buried with Fayemi's victory.
Engr. Segun Oni has congratulated Dr. Kayode Fayemi on his victory at the party's governorship primary election. This is the time for you to escape from the APC's sinking boat and return home to a rousing welcome. He may deceive them in Abuja but he is a paper weight at home.
He also sarcastically thanked the APC for making winning easier for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof. "He will meet his political waterloo on July 14".
"Remember that his late declaration for the position worked against him during the primary as many of his supporters had already started working for other aspirants". They are to be members of his advisory council, he said.
It is not yet clear if all of them will agree to work with him.
