"Our launch of the industry's first ad-supported downloadable content experience is yet another example of how Hulu is innovating viewer-first ad solutions to drive powerful results for brands", said Peter Naylor, senior VP of advertising sales at Hulu, in a statement.
At this year's CES, Hulu teased an upcoming addition for its Live TV streaming service: a new Live TV guide aimed at helping viewers browse now airing programs, similar to a cable TV guide.
And much of that viewing is news and sports, he added. Though Hulu Live TV probably could have used a little more time in the oven before release, these days it's shaping up to be a fairly solid service. The company said during its Upfronts presentation in NY earlier this month that the majority - 78% - of viewing on its service takes place in the living room, on connected TVs. They'll also be able to record live and upcoming programming directly from the guide and personalize their live TV guide by customizing how channels are displayed.
Hulu begins rolling out Live TV Guide for its streaming TV service
In the year since Hulu Live TV launched, we've slowly been seeing Hulu expand the service to more devices and flesh it out with additional features.
Users can quickly access live TV by using the new lightning bolt icon now located to the right of the home icon. This is similar to the guide that went live on the web implementation of Hulu Live TV late a year ago, so a lot of you subscribers should have no problem navigating it.
To further improve navigation, Hulu will allow users to sort the guide by "All Channels" or "Recent Channels" which keeps a list of your 10 most recent channels you've watched at the top of the list.
Hulu says the new guide is rolling out to living room devices now, but will come to other platforms soon.
