After her interview with Chris Cuomo and several others on Monday morning, Kellyanne Conway continued her defense of Donald Trump [VIDEO] in regards to the James Comey interview by going to her personal Twitter account.
Conway artfully dodged questions from ABC's George Stephanopoulos, this after she said Comey confessed in his Senate testimony that the president didn't ask him to cease investigating former national security advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.
Trump, meanwhile, tweeted a slew of insults at Comey, whom he fired in May. Conway is referring to Comey's admission that he thought Hillary Clinton would win easily, which is one of the reasons he wasn't anxious about reopening the email investigation ten days before the election. On Sunday night, Comey's interview with ABC's "20/20" was broadcasted, with the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director saying Trump was "morally unfit to be president".
Kellyanne Conway appear on "Good Morning America", April 16, 2018.
"I saw Jim Comey last night and I said: 'this guy swung an election?' I don't think so", she said.
"She hurt herself; she was never at 50 percent", she said. "As I said dozens of time, Hillary, not Comey, is why Hillary lost", she wrote.
Conway defended her apparent reversal in an interview with The Daily Beast also on Monday morning, claiming she was being sarcastic in her ABC interview. I don't think so.
She also smacked down the IJR for running with ABC's framing.
Days before the election, Trump argued it "took guts" for Comey to "make the move that he made in light of the kind of opposition that he had where they're trying to protect her from criminal prosecution".
Trump and the White House later reversed their position on Comey's handling of the Clinton investigation, saying it was actually the reason the president unexpectedly fired him. "Suggesting he is a partisan interfering with the election is risky & unfair".
