Check Out the Mega Drive Mini in First Teaser Trailer

The Mega Drive Mini was just announced by Sega in Japan, though as yet we don't have any full details on it - only news that it's coming, plus a few pictures from an on-stage demo. The system is slated to release sometime this year in celebration of the original console's 30 anniversary.

The new mini-console, apparently quite similar to the SNES and NES Classic Mini from Nintendo is still partly shrouded in mystery.

This could be a change in direction from the company's long-standing relationship with AtGames, whose Sega Genesis Flashback console tried, and failed, to match Nintendo's efforts previous year.

We'll update this story when we have more details. However, according to Sega Corp chairman Hajime Satomi, the selection of games accompanying the Mega Drive Mini will feature mania-inducing titles that took the gaming world by storm - so start casting your predictions.

Sega Ages is a collection of Sega classic games that will be released for the Nintendo Switch this summer in Japan, the U.S., and Europe. Hopefully, we'll hear more soon!
