Fans of 2000 AD will need to form an orderly line, as Pop Culture Shock Collectibles’ new Judge Dredd figurine is now available for preorder. Retailing at $799.99, the figure is based on the character’s appearance in the 1978 Cursed Earth storyline, the series’ second extended storyline which saw Dredd lead a land assault against the virus-ridden Mega City Two.
The Dredd 1:3 Cursed Earth EX figure includes an environmental base, a swapped clenched teeth portrait and a removable radiation cloak. It stands at an imposing 1/3 scale of 71 centimeters high, 32 centimeters in diameter and 38 centimeters wide and is crafted from a mix of digital and traditional sculpting from full polystone.
It really is a statue worthy of the longest-running character in British magazines, with every detail in Dredd’s grisly visage captured in Pop Culture Shock Collectibles’ signature style. The company are known for their catalogue of high-quality figures, which includes characters from Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and even other versions of Dredd himself, and their latest rendition of Mega City One’s most recognizable judge, jury and executioner is no exception.
Of course, this is just the latest piece of merchandise under the merciless Judge’s belt. Since his debut in 1977, the character has to his name several dozen anthology stories, a number of alternate universe spinoffs, two film adaptations, multiple video games, three board games, a short-lived collectible card game, a collection of novels and even a casino game available through Oddschecker.
There is also currently a TV series in the works – it was announced last year that Rebellion Developments, the current owners of 2000 AD, would be teaming up with IM Global to produce a live action show called Judge Dredd: Mega City One. While it is still in the early production stages, it is planned to be an ensemble drama about a team of Judges as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.
The Dredd 1:3 Cursed Earth EX will be coming sometime in early 2019, with preorders having been available since February 5, though fans looking to get their hands on it will want to do so as soon as they can as the edition size is limited to only 200 pieces. Despite the hefty price tag of $799.99, there is a 15% discount available for customers who pay in full or opt into a payment plan.
