Five months after its launch, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain stated that the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM has been released for all supported Xiaomi India devices, including almost four-year-old phones such as the Redmi 1s and the Xiaomi Mi 3.
Xiaomi on Tuesday announced the rollout of its latest MIUI 9.5 Global Stable ROM for several of its smartphones in the Redmi, Mi MIX, and Mi Max series. With the company launching the Chinese Redmi Note 5 Pro with Oreo out of the box, Indian users can also expect to receive the Oreo update on their phones soon officially.
Last month, at the MWC 2018 tech show, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro was spotted running Android 8.1 Oreo.
To recall, Xiaomi announced the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM in November past year. The update is said to gradually roll out to eligible handsets via OTA.
At the moment, MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM has started rolling out for Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm 650 processor variant, Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm 625 variant/Redmi Note 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 5 Plus, Mi Max and Mi Max Prime. Lastly, in mid-April, Mi Note 2, Mi 5s, Mi MIX, Mi Note 3, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi Note 2, Redmi 3, Redmi 4, Mi 3, Mi 4 will get the latest update. According to the update files, Xiaomi has maintained the same codename and codebase for the Indian and Chinese variants of the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
However, it is important to note that the above release dates are only an estimated time and it might be changed due to some reasons.
Earlier this week, some users had reported seeing the nightly build of MIUI 9.5 Stable ROM on Redmi Note 4 units. Further, it comes with three major style of notifications - Multiple Styles, Bundling Notifications and Quick Replies.
