Data released from Ford claims that, the cylinder deactivation technology improves fuel efficiency and Carbon dioxide emissions by 11 per cent. We also learn that the Fiesta ST's top speed is 232 km/h (144 mph).
The supermini, which is powered by a 200PS 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine, uses technology such as a new combination of port fuel injection and direct fuel injection which works alongside cylinder deactivation technology to improve efficiency. Final fuel economy and Carbon dioxide emissions figures will be released closer to the on-sale date.
Ford has pulled the wraps off the new Fiesta ST 2018 and revealed its full specs and performance information.
Thanks to the optional Quaife LSD, the Fiesta ST will go faster through corners. Add to these the Selectable Drive Modes (Normal, Sport, and Track), and you get the most technologically-advanced B-segment hot hatch on the market.
Ford has revealed that the new Fiesta ST will get a limited-slip differential and a newly patented suspension technology as it fights to outperform its much-loved predecessor. The engine is paired with a new active exhaust as well.
More importantly, the chassis has been optimized with new Ford-patented force vectoring springs that make the turn-in sharper, improve the rear end's responsiveness and provide a generally more connected feel of the auto.
Among the advantages offered by this unique suspension configuration Ford quotes a sharper turn-in, compatibility with traditional suspension dampers, and a weight saving of 10 kg compared with a Watt's linkage solution typically used to enhance stiffness.
An Optional Launch Control for consistently fast standing starts on track, supported by a dedicated graphical display in the instrument cluster, has also been developed for the ST.
Fiesta ST 2018 comes in three different trim and equipment levels - ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3 - and a plethora of exterior paint options and the typical ST styling monikers. We've applied what we've learned from recent Ford Performance models including the Focus RS and Ford GT to develop an all-new Fiesta ST that sets a new standard for driving fun in its segment.
