Multiple people shot at Plant City business

HCSO says that the shooting took place at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday.

Richard Paul Bliss, 49, shot and wounded two men in an office at Bliss Enterprises, deputies said, then was fatally shot himself. That's when deputies say someone related to the victims came in and shot and killed Bliss.

Bliss was in an office talking with the pair regarding a dispute over their presence on the property, Hillsborough sheriffs Col. Donna Lusczynski said. The other man was his relative.

@HCSOSheriff confirms Richard Bliss was shot and killed at his family business, Bliss Enterprises, following ongoing dispute with 2 men he asked to leave their property.

Police are at the scene and an investigation is now underway. One is reportedly in critical condition and the other is stable. The identification of the two in the hospital will not be disclosed until their family can be notified.

Lusczynski said the men shot were living on the property and at least one was working for Bliss. It was not known if the person who shot Bliss will face criminal charges. Bliss also has numerous arrests in Hillsborough County for crimes that include multiple arrests for domestic violence, battery, and assault.

The incident happened so close to the Polk-Hillsborough County line that Polk deputies were one of the first on scene.

Bliss is a builder of varying styles of barns, according to the company website.
