Vin Diesel Confirmed To Star In Sony's 'Bloodshot' Movie

At one point, it was rumored that Jared Leto was in talks for the lead role, but Diesel certainly has more of the build and characteristics one might expect based on the character in the comics.

Sony Pictures has closed a deal with Vin Diesel to star in the studio's sci-fi/action movie Bloodshot, an adaptation of the Valiant comic book series.

The film is said to have a classic 1980s tentpole tone like "Robocop", "Terminator" and "Total Recall".

Production starts this July. However, after recent rumors that Diesel will star in the movie, it has finally been confirmed that he will be taking the leading role as Raymond Garrison, aka Bloodshot. Exec producers are Matthew Vaughn and Dan Mintz, while Andrea Giannetti will oversee the project for Sony. "Bloodshot" was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton in 1992. The character himself is a super soldier with the powers of regeneration, technomancy and meta-morphing on a quest to discover his true identity and a goal in life other than murder. Though his mind has been wiped numerous times, Bloodshot also boasts an extreme aptitude for hand-to-hand combat and, as a former soldier, is well-versed in all manner of weapons training. Valiant's comic books are the best-reviewed books over the past five years; "Bloodshot" in particular has been honored with numerous critics' awards. Valiant Universe. The product of Valiant Digital and Bat in the Sun, the series is set to debut sometime during 2018 and will feature a number of major characters from Valiant Comics.
