The number of flu-related deaths in North Carolina reached an eight-week low last week even as a modern-day record for the state increased by 23 to 276. "There still is a lot of flu out there", Dr. Alicia Fry, who works in the influenza division at the CDC, said Friday, according to NPR.
Influenza data gathered by DHHS indicated there was another decline last week in hospital emergency department and provider office visits related to the flu.

Approximately 4,336 hospitalizations have been reported since flu season began. The flu season can run into May.
DHEC says the flu shot is the best protection against the flu.
Both the cold and flu are viruses, meaning they can not be "cured" by antibiotics, and both will abate on their own timetables. Fevers are rare, as are complicating factors and other related illnesses.
