Winx has won a record 23rd straight race to surpass Black Caviar's record for the most Australian Group 1 wins.
Prized race horse Winx has broken the Australian record for most consecutive Group One wins by an Australian mare in spectacular fashion while also securing a 23rd straight win.
During her career, Winx has defeated more than 50 Group 1 winners, including Breeders' Cup Turf victor Highland Reel; Hartnell, third-place finisher in the prestigious Melbourne Cup and Chatauqua, a G1 winner in Australia and Hong Kong.
There was no repeat of her first-up scare in the Warwick Stakes during the Spring - she jumped with the rest of the field and jockey Hugh Bowman was happy to let her settle at the tail of the field.
"It was just her and me in the middle of the track", Bowman said.
Jockey Hugh Bowman piloted Winx into a hard position sitting five wide around the turn before exploding down the straight from the 300m mark to hit the front and streak away from the field.
"It's hard for me to get a sense of how fast she's going".
Winx had just made her rivals look second-rate as she cruised to a seven-length win.
"You just want to know they've come back".
The scary thing is trainer Chris Waller said there was improvement in Winx.
Bowman rode her in a light gallop on Thursday morning and reiterated she was more relaxed and perhaps a little stronger than the spring.
"But it's not just about him riding her".
"To see her come back like this is pretty special". Mentally and physically she feels very comfortable with me.
The George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on March 24 will be her next assignment.
"She's beaten much better horses".
"She knows it's her job, she enjoys her job, she enjoys going home and being another horse".
Bowman said he had been very confident with the mare going straight to a mile.
