On the second day of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings will meet Quetta Gladiators while Lahore Qalandars will face yesterday's victors, Multan Sultans today.
Afridi will not lead the Karachi based outfit, but will serve as the president of the franchise in the ongoing season. Left-arm spinner Imad Wasim has been trusted with the leadership role.
The Kings have a solid batting line-up, which has the likes of Babar Azam, Colin Ingram, Lendl Simmons, Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara apart from big-hitter Afridi. The Kings may just the edge in bowling attacks but they will need Tymal Mills to recover from a disastrous Big Bash tournament in which he was hit to all parts.
On the other hand, Sarfraz Ahmed's Gladiators, made it to the finals in both the previous editions, facing a heartbreak each time as the trophy continued to elude them.
Quetta Gladiators squad: Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Kevin Pietersen, Rilee Rossouw, Asad Shafiq, Saad Ali, Rameez Raja, Jason Roy, Saud Shakeel, Umar Amin, Mohammad Nawaz, Jofra Archer, Carlos Bathwaite, Mahmudullah, Shane Watson, John Hastings, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Azam Khan, Mir Hamza, Hasan Khan, Rashid Khan, Rahat Ali and Faraz Ahmed.
Gladiators though will miss Khan from the first week of March as he will be away on worldwide duty for Afghanistan's World Cup 2018 qualifiers. If either side's batting line-up really click, that has to favour the Gladiators who have the greater depth in that area and have dominated recent matches against the Kings.
