Speaking of Apollo, Terry Crews commented on Apollo's name change and accused WWE of ripping off his name. More specifically, reducing a character's name is something that has been seen over the course of the sport's history. Vince decided on shortening Harper, Rowan, Cesaro, Rusev and Big E's in the past because he felt it sounded better on WWE programming.
There is a rumor floating around that WWE made a decision to drop "Crews" from Apollo's name last week after developing the "Crews cant lose" catchphrase because the company not wanting any association with the Parkland, FL shooter Nikolas Cruz.
But what is the reason for the adaptation? WWE CEO Vince McMahon reportedly never wants to hear Cruz's surname again.
Apollo is scheduled to team with Nia Jax in the upcoming "Mixed Match Challenge" to take on the team of Bobby Roode and Charlotte Flair. Anything that they can do to avoid any sort of negative publicity with regards to this very bad tragedy will help them in the long run.
