The Beavers trailed by 13 in the first half, but rallied to briefly regain the lead early in the second half.
Thursday's game was a close match, a 2-point victory in favor of USC, 72-70. There was no way.
"Both sides were scoring at a rapid pace, but we don't want to get into a scoring contest with the other team", White said.
"But Metu, behind a freak athlete, went up and got it and that was the game". But the last time the Ducks needed some magic at the buzzer, it came from Dillon Brooks. "He got it over and you can't let him throw that pass".
"I hit it too high off the backboard", White said. "If it would have been a little lower, it probably would have banked in by the grace of God".
"I could have played a lot better", he said.
"But that's just how the cookie crumbles". "Maybe we could have put more pressure on them with a basket there".
The Bruins, who entered the game as the best 3-point shooting team in the Pac-12, were just 4 for 21 from distance, their worst 3-point shooting night in conference play and second-worst of the season.
UP is down to its final three regular-season games: The Pilots will play host to co-leader Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. Saturday, then welcome third-place BYU to Chiles Center at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, before closing at Pepperdine at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24.
Late-game execution has plagued the Ducks for much of this season, though, and Oregon's troubles found the spotlight once again.
Unfortunately for USC, the win could be a costly one as forward Bennie Boatwright left the game in the second half with a left knee injury.
Pritchard and McIntosh each scored 10 points in the first half though the Ducks shot only 35.5 percent. That was the first big key.
McIntosh made a bad throw for a backcourt violation on the next possession, and then OR had a shot-clock violation. PSU turned over the ball with 9.2 seconds left on a shot-clock violation.
Notes: MiKyle McIntosh had the only blocked shot for OR, which had one blocked shot in a game for the third time all season. But USC called a timeout, got the ball to McLaughlin who drew the double team and tossed a dime.
"I thought we did a really good job in transition until we got careless and wanted to make insane plays instead of just simple plays", Alford said.
McIntosh had an OR career-high 23 points in the loss, and Pritchard had 17 points. In 28 minutes, McIntosh added 23 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block and 4 threes with 3 turnovers.
OR (17-9, Pac-12 7-6) saw its two-game win streak come to a close, losing a battle to USC (18-9, 9-5) Thursday night, 72-70.
UCLA stole the win on the road against the Wildcats, but couldn't sustain that momentum into a win against the Sun Devils (19-6, 7-6 Pac-12), and only grabbed a road split against the Arizona schools.
OR will remain in Los Angeles and play the UCLA Bruins on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
The Beavers had the game within reach, but the Bruins took control from there.
"We didn't have the defensive intensity to start the game", coach Tinkle said. "It was just rough". "We fought. We outrebounded them".
