Hetfield will be playing against Zac Efron as the notorious serial killer. Yeah, that pretty much checks out. Officer Bob Hayward, who died a year ago, was nearly off duty when he took a wrong turn and ended up stoppingTed Bundy. I will say that Efron, though most well-known for his breakout in High School Musical and turns in comedies like Neighbors, Neighbors 2 and the Baywatch remake, might be a fine choice. And now Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile has another shocking cast member in the shape of Metallica front man James Hetfield. Then again, a lot has changed since the '80s.
According to BB Gun Press, "The Grammy and multi-Platinum and Gold Award winning artist will be playing Officer Bob Hayward, a no-nonsense Utah highway patrol veteran who was the first law enforcement officer to arrest Bundy in 1975 after pulling the killer over and discovering burglary tools in his vehicle but wisely suspecting much worse".
Hayward was the first officer to arrest the serial killer - who will be played in the movie by Zac Efron - in 1975 after he pulled Bundy over on a highway.
Although Hetfield has previously made cameo appearances in films, this will be his first dramatic role portraying a character, according to Loudwire.
In the past, Hetfield has been involved in movies and television as a writer.
Bundy was executed in Florida in 1989 via the electric chair. Berlinger also wrote a book about his time around the band called Metallica: This Monster Lives.
A likely reason for Hetfield's decision to choose Extremely Wicked as the venue for his dramatic acting debut is that the film is being directed by Joe Berlinger. There is not a release date for "Extremely Wicked." yet, but we'll keep you updated here.
