Palestinians killed since Trump recognised Jerusalem as Israel's capital

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Monday that recent developments in the Middle East could create "an irreversible one-state reality" that would bury the two-state solution of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

Earlier, the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) stated its intention to seek legal action in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the General Assembly and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to appeal against Israeli moves and "to start a judicial inquiry into Israeli settlements, racial discrimination and the ongoing ethnic cleansing in and around Jerusalem, the Jordan Valley and the area south of Hebron".

On Dec. 6 of past year, the US president recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, sparking condemnation and protest across the Arab and Muslim world. He rejected any American role in peace talks. "He invoked an ugly and fictional past, reaching back to the 17th century to paint Israel as a colonialist project engineered by European powers".

After decades, "convergence and global consensus could be eroding, making effective concerted action more hard to achieve", he stressed, noting "illegal" settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank as "a major obstacle to peace".

"Now this ambassador is accusing him of lacking courage and is calling for replacing him".

"I ask here today, where is the Palestinian King Hussein?" If President Abbas demonstrates he can be that type of leader, we would welcome it. To get historic results, we need courageous leaders.

The UN chief said the global consensus on settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict "could be eroding, making effective concerted action more hard to achieve, at a time when it is more important than ever".

"Nikki Haley needs to shut up and realize that the Palestinian leadership is not the problem", said Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat.

According to Hamdallah, the 14 were killed by live ammunition or died in Israeli custody due to Israel's intentional policy of medical negligence.

Defending the Palestinian leadership, Erekat pointed how the world is ignoring the brutalities and atrocities of the Israeli occupation.
