Developer Team Cherry released a trailer to introduce the expansion, as well as what players can expect to see in Gods & Glory. Hollow Knight was nominated for several awards on its release a year ago, including several indie game nods and platformer nods, as well as many "Best Debut" awards for Team Cherry.
Overnight the Adelaide-based studio announced the latest content pack, Gods & Glory. To play the new mode you'll first have to finish the Gods & Glory story, which comes in the form of a quest from a new character, the Godseeker.
Hollow Knight is set to release sometime this spring for Nintendo Switch.
Hollow Knight: Gods & Glory will be the game's third free content pack, following The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams, which released past year.
When Hollow Knight finally arrives on the platform, it will include the The Grimm Troupe and Hidden Dreams expansions at launch; Gods & Glory will release for free at a later date, due to the team's current workload.
The team is keeping the new game mode a secret for now, only saying that it's been "long requested and is a classic for the genre".
Content-wise, the expansion is poised to include a new character, the alluring Godseeker, and a new quest that will have players encountering many new bosses and new music tracks.
The work done to get Hollow Knight going on the Switch has meant there will be a bunch of improvements patched into the PC, Mac and Linux builds of the game over the next month, which is nice if you're gaming on a potato.
