Uganda's Yoweri Museveni loves Donald Trump because 'he speaks frankly to Africans'

I don't know whether he's misquoted or whatever. "He talks about Africans' weaknesses frankly".

Trump caused an uproar in the liberal media after The Washington Post quoted Trump as saying countries like Haiti, El Salvador, and some countries in Africa were "shithole countries" from which America needed to reduce levels of immigration.

The president who was addressing legislators during a session of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) said Africa has everything it needs in terms of size and resources to be a major world power.

The US president's reported "shithole" remark was a reaction to a plan drafted by a bipartisan group of senators to protect juvenile immigrants, the so-called "dreamers" from deportation.

The African Union demanded that Mr Trump apologise for his "clearly racist" comments. "The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak".

Museveni, however, remains a huge Trump fan.

While the US Ambassador to Uganda Deborah Malac earlier today said she regretted the "disturbing" and "upsetting" comments attributed to Trump, Museveni later told parliament that Africa must thank Trump for his honesty, and perhaps it will reawaken Africans to reunite and work together to focus on developing the continent.

Mr Trump allegedly used the term "shithole countries" when asking why the United States should accept immigrants from Haiti and some countries in Africa.

The White House denied Mr Trump made the comments.

She said the comment attributed to Mr Trump will not distract her from working with the government and the people of Uganda.
