The Netherlands worldwide completed his €78.8 million (R1.2 billion) move from Southampton to Merseyside on 1 January, a transfer that made him the most expensive defender ever.
Liverpool's defender, Virgil van Dijk, who recently joined Jürgen Klopp's team for £75 million (€84.5 million) from Southampton, acknowledged to Sky Sports website on Friday that the price of his signing is a "compliment" to his hard work and that does not make him "nervous".
The Merseyside outfit breathed a sigh of relief when their big-money signing made the flawless start to his Liverpool FC career with a late victor in a 2-1 victory over Everton at Anfield in the FA Cup third round.
The 50-year-old told reporters: "The Everton game showed he can adapt to the job".
"So the fact that they have got that money and brought in Van Dijk, who I think is going to be a huge success - I have said it from day one, he is the sort of player that they need".
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wanted Van Dijk to add more strength in depth while Manchester City eyed the defender as a long-term replacement for Vincent Kompany. "I'm just very happy to play for the club".
"You can see yourself that the atmosphere at every home game is wonderful".
"It doesn't make me nervous", Van Dijk said. "I can't change anything about that".
Do you think the Dutchman made the correct decision?
