LSU RB Derrius Guice declares for NFL Draft

Following a junior season that saw him put up almost 1,400 total yards and 13 touchdowns, Derrius Guice has announced that he'll forgo his senior season at LSU and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

Guice will follow in the footsteps of former Tigers running back Leonard Fournette, who exited the program a year ago and wound up the No. 4 overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Guice announced his intention to forgo the final year of his eligibility Wednesday and will hire an agent, making him one of the best running backs in the 2018 class.

That season, Guice also set the single-game school rushing record with 285 yards against Texas A&M. The first came last season against Arkansas, when the tailback posted 252 in a win. He had five 100-yard performances this past season, including a 276-yard effort against Ole Miss.

Over his career, Guice notched 3,074 yards on 471 carries and scored 29 touchdowns on the ground. "The stocky back-he's listed at 5'8" and 218 pounds-was first-team All-SEC in 2016 and second-team this season.

He had a 1-yard reception for a score in the 2016 Citrus Bowl against Louisville, when he was named the game's MVP.

The Baton Rogue native caught two touchdown passes and finished with 122 all-purpose yards (98 rushing, 24 receiving) while earning the game's most valuable player, despite the loss.
