Today, it was revealed that a once Japan-only title, Detective Pikachu, is set for a Western release date at the end of this month, with fans in the U.S. understandably excited to finally be able to experience the adventure game. Western players will receive both episodes with their purchase.
Unsurprisingly, the game features Pikachu in a talking role as a detective who drinks coffee and carries a gun along. I've never been big on the Pokemon spin-off games, sticking mostly to the main RPG entries, but it could be a lot of fun to play around with. Detective Pikachu is the same size as Regular Old Pikachu! When used with the game, it unlocks special videos with hints for your investigation. The Detective Pikachu amiibo figure will be available at a suggested retail price of $29.99. Except, y'know, starring a surly detective-hat-wearing Pikachu who talks in full sentences.
"This Pikachu claims that he worked with Tim's father, and the two pair up to discover his whereabouts". The amiibo allows players to view all of the "Pika Prompts" cutscenes from chapters they've completed. As you make your way through Ryme City, you'll uncover clues, bag witnesses, and unravel secrets along the way. If that's the case, Detective Pikachu may very well be one of the last big releases for the device this year.
Detective Pikachu comes to a 3DS near you on March 23.
