Rapper Kevin Gates released from IL state prison

Kevin Gates is finally a free man.

The Baton Rouge rapper was released from prison on Wednesday morning in IL after serving 9 months in jail. The theme eventually led to a single titled, "I Don't Get Tired" that featured August Alsina.

Billboard reached out to Gates' reps for comment.

Gates has also worked with other artists such as 2 Chainz, Jamie Foxx, Trey Songz, and Ty Dolla $ign.

Gates tweeted this photo after his release this morning.

Two years ago, Gilyard released his debut studio album, Islah. "Trust me I understand", one fan wrote on Twitter.

Gates' first sentence stemmed from his 2015 battery charge after an alleged altercation with a female fan at a Florida concert.

The Baton Rouge rapper served nine months of a 30-month sentence for a weapons-related warrant in an IL state prison. Gates served 9 months of a 30-month sentence.
