IDF Retaliates with Tank Fire for Gaza Rockets; No Injuries

The strikes on the Gaza Strip come after Palestinians spent Thursday protesting against the USA government's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital. On the edge of Ramallah, Israeli forces fired dozens of rounds of tear gas and stun grenades at hundreds of gathering Palestinian protesters.

On Thursday, Israel responded with air strikes and tank fire into Gaza after what a military statement described as "a projectile" was sacked into southern Israel.

Hamas says it recovered the bodies of two of its men.

Israeli media said the target were Hamas military installations.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said 25 people were wounded in the strikes, six of them children.

Haniyeh noted that "Palestine, that is facing an unjustified decision, should reconsider its priorities".

In total, two Palestinians were killed and over 281 Palestinians were injured when Israeli troops used force to disperse Friday demonstrations held across the Palestinian territories.

According to the ministry, the injuries varied from light to moderate.

The Israeli military said earlier that its Iron Dome anti-missile system intercepted a rocket fired from the Palestinian enclave.

His concerns were echoed by many heads of state, with Qatar warning that proclaiming Jerusalem as the Israeli capital equals "death sentence" to the peace process in the region.

The move was hailed by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and by leaders across much of the Israeli political spectrum. It includes the Old City, home to sites considered holy to Muslims, Jews and Christians alike.

Trump also said the United States would move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, though he set no timetable for that.

Israel considers all of Jerusalem to be its capital. "Jerusalem is being kidnapped and ripped from us".
