The next installment in the series looks to be quite different from its predecessors though, as more information is revealed about the game - simply titled God of War - each day.
In that sense, Barlog mentioned that the game experience will last between 25 to 35 hours because its essence is to take the player on an action-packed tour where they can enjoy the different locations between battles. As opposed to Greek gods, it takes Kratos to a land dominated by Nordic gods and monsters; it's also meant to be a more intimate story about Kratos and his son. Stating he would "love to be able to tell people" when the game would arrive, he then joked, "but my dog ate the release date, so I don't have that right now".
God of War is now scheduled for release sometime in 2018.
God of War has been one of the most successful PlayStation exclusive franchise ever since it debuted in 2005 for the PS2. On an average, previous three mainline God of War game has offered 10 hours of gameplay length. There will be a lot of exploration and players will be free to take whatever path they like through the world.
